Tacks, Decorative Nails

Upholstery Tacks have large heads and very sharp pointed ends.

When cut tacks are labelled 'improved' they have a slightly larger head and fatter bodies that the fine tacks.

The tacks should be small enough as to not split the wood and large enough to hold the materials in place.
As a general rule buy:
16mm Improved Tacks for Webbing and Laid Cord.
13mm Fine Tacks for Hessian, Scrim and Top Cover.
10mm Fine Tacks for Top Covers on delicate chairs.

Very small pins. Buy Gimp Pins in a colour to match your braid. When in use their heads blend in well with the background as to not show. Also used to secure the top cover where this is no braid and normal tacks would look ugly.

Gimp Pins should be used in conjunction with a clear adhesive when fixing braid.

Brass, Antique or Nickel Plated Upholstery Studs for finishing the edges of newly upholstered furniture, instead of using Braid.
